Horten Jets in Argentina

1. FMA I.Ae 37-P
The drawing above depicts the glider prototype of the FMA I.Ae 37-P in its first incarnation, in which the pilot lies prone in the conical cockpit. The glider is finished in an overall Natural Metal colour scheme, with Black trim on the wings. The fin and rudder are finished in the Argentine colours of Light Blue and White. Text is Black, and the disc containing the 'P' is Yellow with a fine Black outline. Argentine roundels in Light Blue and White have been applied to both upper and lower wing surfaces. The cockpit appears to be finished in a darker tone of Natural Metal than the remainder of the aircraft. Note the unusual cranked pitot tube in the side view above and below.

2. FMA I.Ae 37-P
The side view below shows the traditional plexiglass cockpit canopy fitted in 1957/1958. This increased the total length of the I.Ae 37-P to 11.78 metres, the intended dimensions of the powered version. Note the repositioned forward undercarriage leg.

3. FMA I.Ae 48
This is a depiction of the wind tunnel model of the I.Ae 48. The I.Ae 48 was designed to be a twin-engined, all-weather two-seat interceptor. Powered by two Rolls Royce Avon turbojets in underslung wing pods, it was intended to be capable of speeds exceeding Mach 2.
